The petals are the results of all your lessons you have gathered along the path of wisdom, your path of life. You are driven forw
ard like the rose that grows from the soil. Drawn towards the light to grow strong. Drawn towards the light and the sun, an unconscious driving force from darkness to light.
The thorns are the lessons you learn along the way. When you "light up", enlighten yourself about your darkness, look at each thorn and embrace your wounds, they are transformed into lessons. Then you can "comfort" yourself and embrace what you have been through and thus bring light into each thorn which becomes "enlightenment". When the pain is taken care of by you, you heal yourself and transform the pain into wisdom, experience. You have then balanced your traumas. Light and darkness, love and hate.
Then the light can enter the center of the rose and illuminate all the way down to the root in the darkness of the soil. You can then enter a new level of higher consciousness. Welcome to the portal of the heart.
