If you see a Christmas tree from a distance, you see a tree with a star on top, all the decorations and lights. The decoration adds its part, only the bare tree does not make the "Christmas tree" that lights up in the dark. It is those who make an effort to put in the lights, the decorations and the star at the top that "create" the whole of the Christmas tree that lights up in the dark.
It is the totality of it that does it, as if the Creator is the tree that wants to see how "you" want to decorate it and thus "light up" for the Creator who is also the star at the top that is put up last when the branches are lit up.
