A tribute to the Palace Church at the Royal Palace
This unique painting has its origins in a fascinating restoration experience. During my internship at a conservation company in 1999, I had the privilege of working on the restoration of the Palace Church at the Royal Palace in the Old Town – a room adorned with magnificent ceiling paintings from a bygone era.
Inspired by these beautiful motifs, I photographed a detail of the angel paintings and recreated it using traditional techniques. I drew the motif in a careful grid pattern and painted it in oil on canvas. To capture the feel of the historical originals, I cracked and patinated the surface, giving the work an authentic, timeless character.
